To be eligible to purchase a Japan Rail Pass, you must meet the following condition. 1, You are a foreign tourist visiting Japan from abroad for sightseeing, under the entry status of "TEMPORARY VISITOR ". "TEMPORARY VISITOR" entry status, according to Japan Immigration Law, allows a stay in Japan of 15 days or 90 days for "sightseeing, etc.". When you enter Japan for sightseeing, Immigration personnel will stamp the passport as "TEMPORARY VISITOR". Only persons who have a passport bearing this stamp can use a JAPAN RAIL PASS. Ca ution: Even if you visit Japan with a NTA Exchange Order (MCO) , to be exchanged in for a Japan Rail Pass, the exchange cannot be made unless you have "TEMPORARY VISITOR" status; if you enter Japan under any other official status, such as "Trainee", "Entertainer" or "Re-entry Permit", you cannot exchange the MCO for a Japan Rail Pass. Please note that according to a strict interpretation of the Japanese Immigration Law, "TEMPORARY VISITOR" status differs even from other types of stays that are also for only short periods. 2. You have both a Japanese passport and written proof - obtained from the embassy or legation of Japan in the foreign country where you live - that you have been living legally in Australia for 10 consecutive years or more *You must present both your passport and proof of eligibility to purchase a MCO in Australia other than Japan and to exchange your Exchange Order for a JAPAN RAIL PASS in Japan. (Exchange locations in Japan ) *You cannot use a photocopy of your passport to exchange your MCO for a JAPAN RAIL PASS. *You can purchase a MCO and exchange it for a JAPAN RAIL PASS only if your stay in the country for 10 consecutive years or more is verified by such written proof. For further information for Japanese passport holders, please access JAPANESE or ENGLISH *Please understand that Sachi Tours will not take any responsibility if you are unable to exchange to Japan Rail Pass in Japan because you did not meet the eligibility requirement written above. JR Pass Validity: The validity period of a Japan Rail Pass is the consecutive 7, 14, or 21 days beginning on the date the Pass is first used. Within three months from the date the MCO was issued, you must exchange your MCO to obtain your Japan Rail Pass in Japan. At that time, it is necessary to specify the date that you want to start using the Pass. It can be any date within one month from the date the Pass is received. Once the Pass has a starting date written on it, the date cannot be changed. JR Pass Refund Policy: -If you have a MCO that has not been exchanged for a Japan Rail Pass, you may return it to our office (NTA Sachi Tours Suite 1, Level 12, 22 Market Street, Sydney NSW 2000) for a refund within one year of the date of issue. Please note that a refund processing and cancellation fee of AU$110 will be charged per MCO. However, if you are able to return the MCO within the same month of purchase or provide a doctor's certificate due to illuness or similar circumstances, a reduced refund processing fee of AU$55 per MCO will be charged. Please allow 3 to 5 business days for processing the refund after we receive the MCO. If you are unable to return the MCO to us, please be aware that the refund processing time may take 10 to 20 business days. -After a MCO is exchanged for a Japan Rail Pass, the Pass can be presented to any Japan Rail Pass exchange office in Japan for a refund if this is done before the starting date of the Pass. (Ten percent of the Japanese yen price of the Pass will be charged as a handling fee.) -No refunds or extensions of the validity period can be made in the event of train non-operation, delay, or similar circumstances. JR Pass Conditions of Use: -The Japan Rail Pass is not valid for any seats, reserved or non-reserved, on "NOZOMI " and "MIZUHO " trains on the Tokaido, Sanyo, and Kyushu Shinkansen Lines. (The pass holders must take "HIKARI," "SAKURA," "KODAMA," or "TSUBAME" trains.) However when traveling on a 'NOZOMI ' or 'MIZUHO ' train using a Japan Rail Pass, it is essential to purchase a separate [ONLY WITH JAPAN RAIL PASS] NOZOMI MIZUHO Ticket in advance and use it in conjunction with a valid JAPAN RAIL PASS. This ticket allows access to the specified section and its facilities. -In addition, if you use the GranClass car of the Tohoku Shinkansen, Hokkaido Shinkansen, and Hokuriku Shinkansen, you must pay the limited express charge and the GranClass car surcharge. Note also that passengers using JR trains on non-JR lines must pay additional fares and charges for sections traveled on such lines. Some JR trains use the lines of private railways for direct services. -To book and issue a reserved seat ticket, you must first exchange your Exchange Order for the actual Japan Rail Pass upon arrival in Japan. -The holder must carry a valid passport when using the pass. -No refund can be made even if there are no available reserved seats and the holder must use non-reserved seating. -There are no Green Cars on most “HIKARI” and “KODAMA” trains on the Sanyo Shinkansen line (Shin-Osaka−Hakata), on some “SAKURA” and “TSUBAME” Series 800 trains on the Kyushu Shinkansen line, and on all "KAMOME" trains on the Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen line. -It cannot be used for “TRAIN DESK” cars on the Tōhoku, Hokkaido, Jōetsu, and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines (starting from the sales on April 1, 2023). -If you use a “DX Green” (operated by JR Kyushu) or "Premium Green" (operated by JR East), you are required to pay the limited express charge and the DX Green or Premium Green surcharge additionally. JR West Rail Pass Eligibility & Conditions: -Overseas customers who meet all of the following conditions can buy the pass; * Persons who have a passport issued by a government or other authority outside Japan, as well as customers who have come to Japan with "Temporary Visitor" residence status (15-day period of stay). However, persons from countries with visa exemptions -- such as the Australia, United States, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, and New Zealand can buy the pass, even with 90 days of stay in Japan. * Customers who have an Embarkation/ Disembarkation Card (ED Card) for departure from Japan, as well as a return ticket of the airline or ship. * Customers who are purchasing a JR-WEST PASS for the first time during their stay in Japan. (purchase limited to one pass per person per trip) JR West Rail Pass Refund Policy: An NTA Exchange Order(MCO) including e-Ticket Exchange Order (e-Ticket MCO) that has not been exchanged for a JR West Rail Pass can be returned to our office for a refund, within one year of the date of issue. In this case, the tea and sweets included in the river cruise may be enjoyed at the Yanagawa Ohana estate and garden. [Important Notes/Supplements: Regarding Luggage Delivery] - Suitcases and other large pieces of luggage will be sent from the hotel accommodation in Tokyo on Day 4 to the hotel in Kyoto the following day, and from the hotel accommodation in Kyoto on Day 7 to the hotel in Fukuoka the following day separately by truck. *Up to 2 articles of standard size luggage per customer will be transported. *As delivery will be the following day for each time, please prepare an overnight package for 1 night of stay. *A document containing details will be provided during hotel check-in. *As luggage will arrive the following day in the evening or later, please check on your own at the hotel front desk after participating in the Day 5 tour and in the evening onward on Day 8. - Please be aware that there is no luggage delivery service during the transfer from Fukuoka to Osaka.
